NWR Continuous Sand Filter Description

Nijhuis Water Technology has developed a complete range of continuous sand filters. The separation of particles from the waste water takes place by filtration over a sand bed, where the removable particles stay behind in the sand and the cleaned water can be discharged continuously.

The water will enter the sand filter from a feed pipe in the bottom and will be distributed under the filter bed. From there the water will flow through the sand and the cleaned water will be discharged via an adjustable weir.

The sand is circulated from the bottom of the filter by a (mammoet) pump to a labyrinth where the sand is washed and the separated particles will leaf the sand filter as dirty wash water. The cleaned sand will be returned to the top of the sand bed and the wash water can be recycle downstream in your waste water treatment system.

The wash water stream and the sand bed speed can be easily adjusted for optimal operation in each specific application.

NWR Continuous Sand Filter - Technical Data

Nijhuis Water Technology has designed a continuous sand filter (CSF) which can be used in the following applications:

  • meet TSS requirements when the limits are low
  • meet tight P requirements by dosing a precipitant
  • as pretreatment in your recycle solution

The CSF can either be an integrated part of a Nijhuis Water Technology solution or a single product.
