Bioctor M Description

Nijhuis Water Technology, designs and supplies a complete range of aerobic biological treatment systems, where bacteria will remove dissolved materials from your waste water. The Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) is one of the systems Nijhuis Water Technology designs. Depending on your waste water capacity and consistency an MBR system can be designed. The MBR design can make use of different types of membrane separation systems, this will be considered case by case.

The mainly soluble matter is removed by biological treatment. Biomass converts organic matter to water, carbon dioxide an new biomass.

A Nijhuis Water Technology MBR design can consist of the following steps:

  • Selector
  • MBR tank for aeration
  • Plate membranes installed in either the aeration tank or in the membrane tank
  • External membranes installed near the aeration tank
  • Denitrification tank (if applicable)
  • Continuous discharge

This aerobic biological treatment process requires input of air. The most common used ways of aeration is either fine bubble bottom aeration or surface aeration. The amount aeration is controlled by an oxygen measurement installed in the MBR tank and is programmed in such a way that the power consumption is minimal.

Bioctor M - Technical Data

1) Selector
Selector tank in which bacteria are in contact with BOD (raw influent) in order to give flock building bacteria an advantage over filamentous bacteria

2) Nutrient and Phosphor precipitant dosing (if required)
When there is a lack of nutrients in the water these have to be added to create a healthy biomass For phosphorus removal dosing of a precipitant will be required

3) MBR tank

  • Aeration of biomass/water mixture

4) Membrane modules

  • The treated water will be discharged from the MBR tank by the membrane system

5) Cleaning agent for membranes

6) Sludge return and excess sludge

  • Sludge return flow will be pumped to the selector
  • Excess sludge will be discharged, further dewatering is a possibility
